Keeping upholstered furniture clean matters—both for appearance and hygiene—especially in Hong Kong’s humid climate. Proclean Hong Kong follows a focused, four-step deep-clean process designed to give stains the best possible chance of removal while protecting fabrics and construction. Below is a clear, client-facing description of that process and what to expect.

Pre-spray: targeted chemistry
We select a fabric-safe pre-spray based on the stain and material: enzyme solutions for organic soils (food, sweat), solvent spotters for grease and oil, or pH-balanced cleaners for general soiling. The solution is applied evenly to stained areas and left to dwell long enough to break down the stain without harming dyes or backing. For unknown or stubborn marks, we start with milder agents and only progress to stronger spotters after testing.

Agitation: mechanical lift
The pre-spray is worked into the fibres using rotary brushes or hand tools matched to the fabric. Agitation helps dislodge embedded dirt and brings stain components to the surface so they can be extracted. On delicate weaves we use softer tools and gentler action to avoid abrasion.

Hot-water extraction: deep flushing and removal
Professional hot-water extraction flushes out dissolved soils, cleaning solution and allergens. Temperature, pressure and suction are carefully controlled to maximise soil removal while minimising residual moisture. Targeted extraction is repeated on stained areas until no further soil transfers to the extraction wand.

High-pressure steam: targeted breakdown and sanitisation
For stubborn stains or where deeper sanitisation is required, we apply targeted high-pressure steam after testing for compatibility. Steam helps loosen deeply set contaminants and supports stain breakdown, but is used selectively to avoid dye transfer, shrinkage or backing damage.

Drying and what to expect
This is a full deep clean: fabrics will typically be damp—not wet—and may not be fully dry immediately after service. To speed drying in Hong Kong’s humidity we recommend running air conditioning and using dehumidifiers; under these conditions most pieces dry within 2–3 hours. Cushions are fluffed and removable covers opened to promote airflow.

Performance and limitations
Our four-step deep-clean process gives stains the best possible chance of removal; in most cases we remove around 99% of stains and significantly restore appearance and hygiene. Some long-set or chemically altered stains—such as certain dye transfers, deep oil saturation or permanent marker—may not be completely removable. When full removal is unlikely, we will explain options and recommend the best course of action.
