Curtain Cleaning in Hong Kong

Curtains are the largest fabric surface in most rooms and the least often cleaned, because taking them down, sending them out and rehanging them is a two-day job with a real risk of shrinkage. We clean them in place.

Cleaned on the rail

No take-down, no dry cleaner, no shrinkage. We work the full drop from the heading tape to the hem, treating both faces where access allows. The lining is cleaned at the same time. Because nothing is immersed, the curtain cannot shrink or lose its hang.

What builds up in a curtain

Airborne dust, cooking residue and, in Hong Kong, the fine grime that comes through open windows near a road. Curtains near a kitchen or a busy street darken along the leading edge first. Steam at 140 degrees also kills the mould and mildew that form on linings against a damp window in humid months.

Two sizes

Short at 132cm x 152cm and long at 132cm x 274cm, priced per curtain. Measure the drop from the top of the heading to the hem. Blackout and interlined curtains count as one curtain.

Drying and fabric care

Curtains dry hanging, which is the fastest position, usually within a few hours with the air conditioning on. Silk, heavy velvet and hand-dyed fabrics should be flagged to us before booking, as they carry a dye transfer risk.

Our minimum booking is HK$1,200 for the visit, across any mix of services rather than one curtain. Most homes do every room in a single appointment.
