The Qualifications and Training Behind Our Senior Aircon Technicians

Choosing an aircon company in Hong Kong is about trusting qualified people with equipment that affects your safety, your air and your electricity bill. Here are the qualifications, certifications and registrations our senior technicians hold.

Why Qualifications Matter in Aircon Work

An air conditioner combines mains electricity, pressurised refrigerant and, in Hong Kong, awkward access at height. Each of those carries risk when handled by someone untrained.

Qualified technicians diagnose faults faster, protect your warranty and leave an installation that is safe and compliant.

At Proclean, our senior aircon technicians hold a combination of vocational qualifications, manufacturer certifications and government-recognised registrations. Credentials are available on request.

A credential is only useful if a client can check it. Ours can be verified before any major work begins.

The Qualifications Our Technicians Hold

Core training covers the technical disciplines of the trade, typically through programmes recognised by the Vocational Training Council or equivalent bodies.

HVAC vocational training refrigeration cycles, thermodynamics, airflow and system design.
Refrigerant handling certified recovery, recycling and recharge, in line with environmental and safety requirements.
Electrical safety work carried out to the standards set by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department.
Working at height formal training for rooftops, ledges and scaffold towers. See working at height.
Confined spaces certified competency for plant rooms and equipment cupboards.
Factory certification authorised training from the major aircon manufacturers.

Refrigerant Handling Is a Certified Skill

Refrigerant handling is regulated because poor practice harms both people and the environment. Our technicians are certified for refrigerant recovery, recycling and recharge.

Internationally, the benchmark is the US EPA's Section 608 technician certification, which sets out how refrigerants must be recovered and handled.

Low refrigerant always means a leak. A qualified technician finds and fixes the leak before recharging, so the problem does not return.

Registered Electrical Worker and Contractor Licensing

Registered Electrical Worker (REW) status is granted by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department. It is the government's recognition that a person is qualified to carry out electrical work.

Proclean's senior management hold REW registration and supervise and sign off electrical installations and mains connections. The company also operates under an Electrical Contractor's Licence issued by the EMSD.

For new installations, plant room rewiring or multi-unit fit-outs, clients can and should ask for confirmation of both before work starts.
